đď¸ Launching November 11: This article covers features launching on November 11. Admins can opt in early.
Use Group Messages for conversations with a team, a Location, or a Role, and Direct Messages for one-on-one conversations. Everyone in a conversation can reply, react, and share photos and videos.
â Before you start: Starting a conversation needs the Start Messages permission. Admins and Managers have it by default.
Table of Contents:
Find Your Messages
Your conversations are in the same place in the dashboard and the app:
Dashboard: click Messages in the left nav. Conversations are grouped into Unread, Group Messages, and Direct Messages, with a search bar at the top.
Opus Training app: tap the Messages tab. The same groups appear, with Unreads at the top and Archive at the bottom of the list.
Start a Direct Message
In the dashboard, click + next to Direct Messages. In the app, tap + next to Direct Messages.
Choose who to message.
Write your message and send it.
If you already have a conversation with the same team members, Opus opens it instead of starting a new one.
Start a Group Message
In the dashboard, click + next to Group Messages. In the app, tap + next to Group Messages.
Give it a title and, in the dashboard, a Description if you like.
Choose its Members. You can add team members one by one, or whole Locations, Roles, Regions, Brands, or Franchises.
Click Save.
When you add a whole Location or Role, the group updates on its own: anyone who joins that Location or Role is added, and anyone who leaves it is removed.
Owners and Member Permissions
You become the owner of a group you start, and every group needs at least one owner. Owners and Admins can add or remove owners, delete the group, and choose what members can do:
Members can edit title
Members can add and remove members
When a permission is off, only owners can do it. To change these later, open the group's settings (the ⌠button at the top) and select Edit group message.
Send, Edit, and React
Every conversation works the same way, whether it's a group or one-on-one:
Mention: type @ to mention someone in the conversation.
Attach: add photos, videos, or Resources from your Library. In the app, use Camera, Gallery, or Resource.
React: add one emoji reaction to a message. Picking another replaces it.
Edit or delete your own message: open the message's menu and select Edit Message or Delete Message. Deleting removes it for everyone and can't be undone.
Report: select Report message on someone else's message to send it to your Admins.
Notifications
Messages notify by push notification in the Opus Training app.
To change notifications for one conversation, click the bell at the top of it and choose New messages, @ mentions only, or Muted. To set your defaults for all Group Messages and Direct Messages, go to Messages > Preferences.
Archive or Delete a Conversation
Archive a conversation to clear it from your own list, or delete a group to remove it for everyone:
Archive: hides a conversation from your list and stops its notifications, only for you. Find it again in Messages > Archive.
Delete: removes a group and all its messages for everyone. Only owners and Admins can delete, and it can't be undone.
Both are in the conversation's settings, the ⌠button at the top.
FAQ
Why can't I start a conversation?
You need the Start Messages permission. Ask an Admin to turn it on for your Role or for you.
Who can I message?
Admins can message anyone in your business. Managers and Trainees can message team members who share a Location with them.
How do I leave a Group Message?
Remove yourself from its members, if the group lets members add and remove members. Otherwise, archive it to hide it, or ask an owner to remove you.
Can I reply to a specific message in a thread?
No. Each conversation is one stream of messages. Use an @mention to point someone to what you're answering.
