📌 To access the Opus dashboard, you must have Admin or Manager access to Opus. Click to learn more about inviting Admins and Managers to Opus.

Messages are one-way announcements or direct messages that Admins and Managers can send to their teams. Messages can be sent to your entire team or a handful of individuals. While Messages are one-way, recipients can react to messages with emojis.

You can use Messages for:

  • Employee recognition

  • Team shout-outs

  • Weekly newsletters

  • Operational updates

  • Training reminders

Sending Messages from the Opus Dashboard

There are three ways to start a message blast from your dashboard. Let's dig into each one:

Sending a Message from the User Page

  • From the user page, click the checkbox next to one or multiple names.

  • This will open a menu bar at the bottom of the screen with multiple actions.

  • Click the Message button, then create and send your message

👥 When selecting your recipients, click + Add a Segment to message separate groups of roles, locations, departments, brands, or any other user groups.

Sending a Message from a Course or Module

  • From the Manage tab in a course or module, head to the Assigned Users section. Select the users you would like to message to, and select Message in the menu bar.

  • This option is especially useful to remind users about outstanding or past-due assignment completion!

Composing and Sending a Message

To create a new message, click +New, and a modal will open. Before sending, you’ll need to complete the following fields:

  • Sender: Admins can send messages on behalf of the organization instead of individual users. This provides a more official and unified communication channel.

  • Recipients: Designate your message audience by targeting individual employees or selecting groups (roles, locations, departments, etc.).

    • When drafting a Message, you can select multiple recipient groups to reach the right audience. You can create, edit, and delete recipient groups anytime to keep them current.

    • Important notes:

      • You’ll see the total number of users included before sending.

      • f a user is part of more than one selected group, they’ll only receive one Message Blast notification (no duplicates).

      • You can update or remove recipient groups anytime from your Dashboard.

  • Subject Line (Optional): Add a subject line for improved clarity and focus, helping recipients quickly understand the message’s purpose.

  • Enhanced Formatting: Use header size options and rich-text formatting tools to create polished, visually appealing messages.

  • AI Assist: Use AI Assist to add relevant emojis, simplify complex text, or fix spelling and grammar issues

  • File Attachments: Attach multiple files to a single message from your device or Resource Library.

    • When including multiple attachments, pin one key file to the top for emphasis

  • Schedule Message: You can send your message immediately, schedule it for later, or save it as a draft to review before sending.

  • Translations: Ensure accurate language translations by turning on the Translations toggle and previewing your message in any available language.

  • Notifications: By default, all messages are sent once. You can also set daily reminders for recipients who haven’t opened the message yet.

    • Click Notifications → Daily Reminders

    • Choose an end date for reminders (required)

      • Use this option for time-sensitive messages such as new menu items or compliance training reminders.

What Happens After a Message is Sent

Reactions and Reporting

After your message is sent, recipients can react using a set list of emojis, helping increase engagement.

You can also track how your message performs: Admins and Managers can see detailed reports, including read receipts and emoji reactions, to understand which messages are most effective. To view engagement for a specific message, click View Engagement in the top-right corner of the Dashboard.

Attachments and Media

Recipients will see pinned attachments at the top of the message, making important documents or images easy for recipients to see. Any other attachments are organized at the bottom, keeping messages clear and easy to navigate.

Deleting Messages

Accidentally sent a message? You can permanently delete it from the inbox by clicking the trash icon in the top-right corner of the message.

  • Admins can delete any message sent across the organization.

  • Managers can only delete messages they’ve sent themselves.

Things to Keep in Mind

  • Message Blast features work slightly differently on the Dashboard and the mobile app.

  • Messages are one-way—trainees cannot reply.

  • Trainees without the app will receive the message via text to their registered phone number.

  • Your full message history is always available on the Messages page.
