Messages are one-way announcements that Admins and Managers can send to their teams directly through the Opus app. Use them to keep your team informed, motivated, and aligned—without the noise of back-and-forth communication.

Common use cases include:

  • Employee recognition and team shout-outs

  • Weekly newsletters

  • Operational updates and training reminders

While Messages are one-way, recipients can react using a preset list of emojis.

How to Send a Message

  1. From your home screen, click on the Messages tab at the bottom of the app screen.

  2. Tap + New in the top right corner to open the message builder.

  3. Tap Add Recipients to select who receives the message.

    • You can send to your entire team, specific locations or roles, or individual users. There's no limit to the number of recipients.

  4. Add an optional subject line and type your message.

  5. Optionally, add one or more attachments. You can:

    • Take a photo directly from your phone

    • Upload a file from your device

    • Upload directly from your Opus Library

  6. Preview your message, then tap Send.

Only Admins have the option to send messages on behalf of their organization (i.e., from the company name). Managers cannot customize the Sender field.

💡 When adding multiple attachments, you can pin one to appear at the top of the message for increased visibility. Other attachments will appear neatly at the bottom.

What Happens After a Message is Sent

Reactions & Reporting

Once a message is sent, recipients can react using a preset list of emojis. Admins and Managers can view detailed engagement reports for any message they've sent, including:

  • Open rates – See how many recipients have read the message

  • Emoji reactions – Track how your team responded

  • Read receipts – Toggle to the "Read" tab to see exactly who has and hasn't opened the message

To view engagement, tap the message and scroll down to see these details.

Message History

Your full message history—both sent and received—lives on the Messages page. Admins have visibility into all messages sent across the organization.

Deleting Messages

Made a mistake? You can permanently delete a message by tapping the trash icon in the top right corner of the message.

  • Admins can delete any message sent across the organization.

  • Managers can only delete messages they sent themselves.
