What is AI Image Generation in Opus?
Opus’ AI image generator lets you customize your visuals directly in the Course builder or an Opus Doc without leaving your workspace.
With Opus’ AI image generator, you can:
Edit images already in your training
Upload and edit new ones
Generate completely new images from scratch
To get started, write a prompt describing what you want to see and generate your image. Then refine, retry, undo, or continue editing using other tools.
💡 Talk it through: Click the microphone (Dictate) in the image prompt box, describe what you want out loud, then click Stop and transcribe. Your words appear in the prompt box so you can edit them before you generate.

Edit Images Already in Training Content
Quickly update any image already in your Course or Opus Doc without needing to upload a new file.
Open your Course or Opus Doc, go to the Build tab and click Edit.
Select the image to update.
Click Edit with AI:
In a Course: in the menu on the right.
In an Opus Doc: in the menu on the image.
Describe your changes in the prompt box.
Apply the edit:
In a Course: click Edit with AI, compare Before and After, then click Use this image.
In an Opus Doc: click Generate. The edited image replaces the original.
💡 Don’t like your edit? Click Undo in the toolbar at the bottom of your Course or Opus Doc, or use Cmd + Z (Mac) / Ctrl + Z (Windows) to reverse it.
Upload and Edit an Image
Upload any image from your device to quickly enhance or modify it with AI.
Open your Course or Opus Doc, go to the Build tab and click Edit.
Click Add media (in an Opus Doc, the image icon in the bottom toolbar), then Generate with AI, then Upload and Edit.
Upload your image from your device.
Describe your edits in the prompt.
Click Modify Image, review the result, and click Use Image.
💡 Your original stays intact: Editing preserves the original image while applying your changes.
Generate a New Image with AI
Create entirely new images from scratch.
Open your Course or Opus Doc, go to the Build tab and click Edit.
Open the add media dialog. In a Course, select a screen and click Add media. In an Opus Doc, click the image icon (Media) in the bottom toolbar.
Click Generate with AI, then Generate New Image.
Enter a text prompt.
Click Generate to get four different options to use.
Review the options, click Regenerate to try again, or click Use Image.
Optional: Preview or download before finalizing.

Who can use AI image generation?
Admins and Managers with the Create Content permission can generate and edit images. Ask your Admin if you don't see the option.
Do I need to republish after using AI image generation?
Yes. After you add or edit images with the AI image generator, click Publish on your Course or Opus Doc for the updates to appear to team members.
Can I edit any image, not just AI-generated ones?
Yes. You can edit any image in your training: stock photos, uploads, screenshots, or previously generated content.
What if I don't like the result?
For a new image, click Regenerate. For any image, describe another change and click Modify Image. Generating 2–3 variations helps you find the best fit. Best Practices for AI Image Generation shows how to write effective prompts.
Save prompts that work: If a prompt consistently produces the style or results you like, save it in a prompt repository for future use. When in doubt, make your prompt more specific, and include details about what you don’t want to see.

Does AI learn from my images or use them for training?
