Reporting settings set the targets, employee counts and onboarding window your Reporting dashboard measures against. Keep them current and every metric reflects your business.
✅ Before you start: Only Admins can change Reporting settings.
Go to Reporting in the left nav, then click Reporting settings in the top right corner.
Table of Contents:
Set Your Targets
Targets are your business-wide benchmarks for what good looks like. Every Location is measured against the same targets, and you can update them any time as your program evolves.
💡 Defaults: Targets start at Opus recommendations based on industry standards. Each target shows its recommendation under its name.
To set or update your targets:
Go to Reporting and click Reporting settings in the top right corner.
On Targets, drag each slider or type a value.
Click Save.
Target | What it measures | Opus recommends |
Adoption | % of registered team members | 80% |
Assignment completion | % of assigned modules completed | 80% |
Assignments past due | % of assigned training past its due date. Lower is better, so this target is a ceiling. | 5% |
Manager engagement | % of Managers who used Opus in the last 30 days | 50% |
Trainee engagement | % of Trainees who used Opus in the last 30 days | 50% |
Course accuracy | Expected score on Course questions | 80% |
Course feedback | Minimum Course rating, from 1 to 5 | 4.6 |
Update Your Employee Count
Adoption compares how many team members actively use Opus with your total employee count. If the count is wrong, your adoption number is too.
If you have an HRIS integration, Locations with HRIS data use their HRIS employee count automatically. Every other Location uses the default count you set here, unless you add an override for it. If needed, you can override the default HRIS integration logic for specific locations to accommodate unique circumstances where HRIS data is not reliable.
To update your employee count:
Go to Reporting, click Reporting settings, then click Total employee count.
Enter your Default employee count per location.
To use a different count for a Location, click Add location and choose it. Then pick its source:
Admin override: Enter the count yourself in the Employees column.
HRIS: Use the count from your HRIS integration. Shows only when you have one.
Location manager: Use the count the Location's Manager submitted. Shows only when Location manager override is on.
Click Save.
Turn on Location manager override to let Managers set their Location's employee count in the Opus Training app. A Location uses that count once you choose Location manager as its source.
💡 Keep it current: Review your employee counts when your team size changes, like new Location openings, seasonal hiring, or high turnover.
Set the New Hire Onboarding Window
The New hire onboarding metric on the Organization tab shows how quickly new hires get up to speed. Any training assigned within a team member's first days on Opus counts as new hire training.
Set the window to match how long your onboarding actually takes. Too short and real onboarding activity gets left out. Too long and the metric loses meaning.
To set the onboarding window:
Go to Reporting, click Reporting settings, then click New hire onboarding.
Enter the number of days in Onboarding assignment window. The default is 2 days.
Click Save.
💡 Not sure what to set? Start with your typical onboarding length and adjust as the data comes in.
FAQ
Where do I find Reporting settings?
Go to Reporting in the left nav and click Reporting settings in the top right corner, next to the Organization, Program and Location tabs. The button shows only for Admins.
Who can update Reporting settings?
Only Admins can change targets, employee counts and the onboarding window. When Location manager override is on, Managers can submit their Location's employee count in the Opus Training app.
Do targets apply per Location or to my whole business?
Targets are set once for your whole business and apply to every Location. Managers see their Location's results measured against those same targets.
How often should I update targets?
In your first 6 to 12 months, your baseline is still forming, so expect to adjust targets as you learn what's realistic for your team. After that, keep them stable unless something significant changes, like a new hire training overhaul or a major expansion.
What happens if I don't set an employee count?
Without an HRIS integration or a default employee count, Adoption shows a prompt to set your employee counts instead of a percentage.
How is adoption calculated if my HRIS covers only some Locations?
Locations with HRIS data use their HRIS count, and the rest use your default count. To change a Location's source, add it under Total employee count and choose Admin override, HRIS or Location manager.
