What is Ask Opus?

Ask Opus is a built-in search tool that gives your team instant, accurate answers from your Opus Library and the Opus Knowledge Base—never from outside sources or unverified info. It uses your existing permissions, so employees only see the content they’re allowed to access, just like they would when asking a teammate in person.

Think of it as a 24/7 on-demand trainer: quick, accurate, and always working from only approved training materials.

With Ask Opus, you can:

  • Get answers instantly – Average response time is < 10 seconds.

  • Trust the source – Every answer is pulled directly from your verified training content, with clear citations so staff know exactly where the information came from.

  • Keep access secure – answers only come from content the user is authorized to see, based on already granted Opus access settings.

  • Spot knowledge gaps – Search analytics reveal the questions your team is asking, helping you identify and fill training gaps with no extra setup.

Where to Find Ask Opus

Ask Opus appears on the Opus Training app home screen and dashboard once your admin enables it. It’s the friendly blue icon in the bottom right corner.

For admins: Go to Settings > Ask Opus to test and enable the feature. You can try it yourself before rolling it out to the team, ensuring answers display as expected.

💡 If you don’t see Ask Opus, your admin may still be testing it or has not yet enabled it for everyone.

What Questions Can Be Answered by Ask Opus

Ask Opus can answer questions about your company and the Opus product. This includes using published courses, resources such as Opus docs, PDFs, images, and hosted videos with subtitles, as well as the Opus Knowledge Base for product guidance.

Example questions:

  • Procedure: “How do I clean the espresso machine?”

  • Policy: “What’s our uniform policy?”

  • Product/menu: “What ingredients are in the veggie burger?”

  • Safety/compliance: “What PPE is required for the prep station?”

  • Opus product: “How do I complete a course?”

  • Step-by-step guides: “How do I set up the cold brew tap?”

💡 Ask Opus can’t answer questions that require content from check-ins, task lists, audit forms, external links, YouTube videos, or archived or unpublished content.

It also won’t answer questions about personal opinions, judgment calls, or anything that needs data from outside Opus.

If You Don’t Get an Answer

If Ask Opus says “I don’t have information about that”:

  • Try rephrasing your question with different keywords.

  • Be specific—questions like “How do I?” or “What is the policy for…?” work best.

  • Contact your manager if the question is urgent and you can’t find the answer.

If you get an incorrect answer, click the thumbs-down button in the Ask Opus chat to let the Opus team know that the answer was wrong.

How Answers Stay Accurate with Ask Opus

If Ask Opus doesn’t have the answer in your Opus Library, it’ll say so. It adheres to the same security standards as all your Opus content, ensuring it never pulls information from unapproved or external sources.

This means all answers come exclusively from your verified content, are tailored to each user's role and permissions, and never access outside company data or public internet content.
