Getting Started: Recommendations

Learn how Recommendations turns your data into prioritized training recommendations, so you can review, assign, and track impact across your business.

Written by Ben Brunken

Recommendations turns the signals your operation generates every day into targeted training, so the right team members at the right Locations get the right training at the right time.

Opus analyzes your connected Signals and turns them into a prioritized list of training actions for specific Locations. You stay in control: approve what you want to act on, and Opus tracks the results so you can prove your impact.

✅ Before you start: Admins have access by default. Managers need the Manage Org Integrations permission.

Connect a Signal first. Today, the only Signal is Guest Feedback.

How it works

Connect a Signal to get started. From there, Opus runs the process end to end:

  1. Spot patterns: Opus analyzes recurring themes and identifies which Locations are affected.

  2. Generate Recommendations: Opus generates suggested training actions tailored to the issue and your training Library.

  3. Review and act: You accept, adjust, or dismiss each Recommendation.

  4. Measure impact: Once training is live, click Start measuring impact and Opus tracks whether feedback improves.

Every Recommendation suggests one of three actions, depending on what's already in your Library:

  • Assign training: You already have content that covers this, so reassign it to the affected Locations and Roles as a refresher.

  • Update existing content: Your training exists, but it's unclear or incomplete, so Opus drafts what to add or revise.

  • Create training: There's a gap in your Library, so Opus drafts new content to fill it.

Signals

Signals are the data sources Opus reads to find patterns across your business. The more you connect, the sharper your Recommendations become.

Guest Feedback

Guest Feedback is the first Signal. Opus reads your guest reviews, finds the patterns behind your ratings, and turns them into Recommendations you can act on right away. Connect it in two ways:

  • Set up an integration: Auto-sync from Google Business Profile or Ovation for continuous, hands-off analysis.

  • Upload a CSV: Export reviews from any feedback platform and upload them. Included on Growth and Enterprise plans.

More Signals coming soon:

  • Ask Opus

  • Knowledge Check

  • Course feedback

💡 Signals and Recommendations: Signals are the data Opus reads, and Recommendations are the training actions it produces.

Recommendations

Recommendations is where Signals become concrete next steps, and where you decide what to act on. In the left nav, click Recommendations to open the board.

The board is organized by status: Inbox, In progress, Measuring impact, and Done, so you can track each Recommendation from new to resolved. Recommendations you dismiss move to Dismissed.

Select any Recommendation to see the issue, sample reviews, and suggested action, then take one of three actions: assign training, update existing content, or create new training.

💡 You approve every action: Nothing is published or assigned automatically. You review and approve every action before it reaches your team.

FAQ

Who can see and access Recommendations?

Admins have access by default. Managers need the Manage Org Integrations permission, and Trainees can't access Recommendations or Guest Feedback. To change your plan or get access, message our team through chat or email support@opus.so.

Does Opus assign or publish training automatically?

No. Recommendations only suggests actions; nothing is assigned or published to your team without your review and approval.

What's the difference between the Recommendations page and the Guest Feedback page?

Recommendations is where you review and act on training suggestions. Guest Feedback is where you browse the underlying reviews, manage your connected data sources, and check when each analysis ran on the Analysis history tab.

Will I receive notifications when new Recommendations are generated?

Yes. When a new batch of Recommendations is generated, Opus sends each Admin a notification in the dashboard so nothing sits unreviewed.

What time frame of guest feedback is analyzed?

Opus generates Recommendations from guest reviews dated in the past 90 days, so they reflect your team's current opportunities for improvement.
