How to Build Training Using AI

Build training with the Primary Agent or the AI Module and Course Builders, then polish it with AI Assist.

Building training from scratch takes time. Describe the training you need, and Opus AI drafts it for you, so you can review, refine, and publish it faster.

Two Ways to Build with AI

Opus can build Modules, Courses, Check-ins, Checklists, Audits, and Opus Docs for you. How you build depends on your role:

  • Admins build with the Primary Agent. Describe what you need, and it asks a few questions, proposes a plan, builds the draft, and keeps editing it with you.

  • Managers build with the AI Module and Course Builders. Describe what you need, refine an outline in a chat, then generate the Module or Course.

šŸ’” Not sure which you have? Start a new Course. If the dialog's button says Start building, you have the Primary Agent. If it says Send, you have the AI Builders.

What Is the Primary Agent?

The Primary Agent is the AI assistant for Admins in Opus. You chat with it in plain language, and it works from your own Opus data: your Library, your team, and any files you give it. It can build new training, change training you already have, and answer questions like who's overdue.

It sees only what you can see, and it never publishes, assigns, or deletes anything without your OK.

To open it, go to the Agents section of the left navigation and click Primary Agent. It's always the first row. Its chat opens in a panel beside the page you're on, so you can keep working.

Build Training with the Primary Agent

Start a draft from the New button, or ask in the Primary Agent's chat. Both lead to the same steps.

Start from the New Button

  1. Click New at the top of the left navigation and choose what to create, like Course or Module. You can also use the New buttons at the top right of the Library, Check-ins, Checklists, and Audits pages.

  2. In the dialog, like Create course with AI, describe your goal, who it's for, and the key topics. To build from your own material, click Attach to upload files or pick items from your Library.

  3. Click Start building. Opus opens a new draft, with the Primary Agent's chat beside it.

Start in the Primary Agent's Chat

Open Primary Agent from the left navigation, describe the training you want, and click Send. When the draft is ready, it shares a link to it.

Questions, Plan, and Draft

  1. Answer its questions. If it needs more detail, like what to build from, it shows a few questions. Click an answer for each one, then click Continue.

  2. Approve the plan. For a new Course or Module, it shows everything it will build. Click Approve & build, or reply with what to change. A single Check-in, Checklist, or Audit skips the plan.

  3. Review the draft. Ask for changes in the chat, like "Shorten screen 4," or edit the draft yourself.

  4. Publish. Click Publish in the top right corner when it's ready. Your team won't see it until you do.

šŸ’” AI drafts are a starting point: Check facts, policy wording, and quiz answers before you publish.

Build with the AI Module and Course Builders

If the dialog's button says Send, you build with the AI Builders. The outline appears on the left, and you refine it in the chat on the right.

Build a Module

  1. Go to Training > Library, select Modules, and click New Module in the top right corner.

  2. Describe your goal, audience, and key topics, attach any files, and click Send.

  3. Review the Module outline and ask for changes in the chat.

  4. Click Add Details in the chat, then Generate Module.

  5. Review the Module and click Publish.

Build a Course

  1. Go to Training > Library, select Courses, and click New Course in the top right corner.

  2. Describe the Course's focus and objectives, attach any files, and click Send.

  3. Review the Course outline and ask for changes in the chat.

  4. Click Generate course, review the Course, and click Publish.

Polish Screens with AI Assist

AI Assist helps you touch up one Course screen at a time, however the Course was built.

  1. Open the Course in the builder and click a screen.

  2. In the panel on the right, scroll to AI Assist.

  3. Open Text suggestions and choose Simplify text, Spelling and grammar, Shorten text, or Extend text. You can also click Add emojis or New question screen.

  4. Click Accept to keep the suggestion, or Retry and say what to change.

šŸ’” Rewrite a few words: Select text on a screen and choose Rewrite with AI from the menu that appears.

Write a Good Prompt

The more you share, the closer the first draft gets. Include the learning goal, who it's for, the key topics, and anything special, like length or how many Check-ins.

šŸŽÆ Example: "Create a training module for new customer-facing team members to confidently help customers and handle transactions. Include product knowledge, POS operation, and customer service etiquette. Add two scenario-based check-ins."

Rather talk? Click the microphone (Dictate) in the text box, describe what you want, then click Stop and transcribe.

Generate Images with AI

When stock photos don't fit, create visuals with AI in a Course or Opus Doc. Add an image and choose Generate New Image, or click Edit with AI on an image you already have.
